Facing the sudden loss of a loved one manifests differently for everyone, but it often leaves people searching for a final chance to say goodbye. I lost my mother in 2005 but in an unexpected moment of stillness, I became suddenly aware of a message from her. I vaguely knew that it had something to do with giving a letter and portion of inheritance to my children, but it remained unclear until I sat down with a pen and paper and started writing.
What unfolded was a transformational experience that completely changed my life’s trajectory. Before I knew it, tears were streaming down my face. I felt my mother’s overwhelming love pouring through me as I wrote a letter in my mother’s words and signed her name at the bottom. It turns out I had been gifted with a special visitation from my departed mother and it was one of the first intensely spiritual experiences I have had with spirit-inspired writing. People often resign themselves to the ‘fact’ that reconnecting with lost loved ones is impossible, but that day I learned that connecting with the spirit world is a natural and wonderful thing that can happen to anyone.
THE SPIRIT WORLD
Centuries of spiritual oppression have led many to believe that communication with the spirit world is impossible. Others believe it can only be made through a select few who are ordained or deemed ‘worthy’. Unfortunately, this way of thinking has eluded many people of the chance to reconnect with the dearly departed, Spirit guides or experience powerful forms of healing. Perhaps you’ve wondered about connecting with the spirit world before. Maybe you've even heard of someone who has received information from the Spirit world and thought about doing the same. Or perhaps this is a brand new concept. Regardless of your current position, a life-changing opportunity awaits. I have witnessed how it can heal and empower lives. I’m a fourth generation psychic and medium who works across the U.S. and internationally. I have served as a trance voice channel for spirit guides for over a decade. My original career path as a Registered Nurse and Midwife helped me discover this ability to communicate with the spirit world. Therein, I discovered I can communicate with babies in utero and share messages with their expectant mothers and this is where I regularly experience the presence of Spirit. During childbirth and the following moments, I connect with ancestors present to give comfort and support to the spirit of the arriving baby, as well as the waiting family. I will be holding workshops across the U.S. to demonstrate that it is possible to connect with the spirit world, and with a little guidance, it is possible to do it yourself.
TAP INTO YOUR OWN GUIDANCE SYSTEM
Science has proven that energy does not ‘die’ but rather, it changes form and our ability to experience it. People are the same way, and our vibrations do not ‘end’ when we leave our bodies. Our energy and soil continues, experiencing a different vibration as part of the spirit world. Some call it Heaven, but it is not just a place for the dearly departed; it is also where the souls of unborn children wait and where guardian angels, spirit guides, and our own “higher selves” reside. The process of connecting with this spirit world is much easier than you may have been led to believe.
The connection begins with the essential step of stilling the mind; this is the best way to step away from the ego personality and create a blank mental canvas for receiving messages from heaven. Quieting the “monkey mind”—that part of yourself that is unsettled, restless, or confused—can be done in many ways including yoga and meditation. Certain activities such as driving or washing dishes can also put your mind in a state of stillness. Dreams or the moments between sleep and your waking state is another period when your conscious mind is still and unable to block your subconscious. For many, achieving a meditative state is easier said than done but it can be achieved through guidance, understanding, and practice.
In my experience, the spirit world is interested in your soul’s progression. It is interested in helping you to know that you are loved and supported on your journey. Guidance is given when you ask and answers come in a variety of ways like songs, books, spirit-inspired writing or letters, journalling, or gut feelings. By tuning into this, I have relayed messages of love, support, guidance, and inspiration to numerous individuals, and also guided many others towards receiving these messages on their own.
The benefits of these connections extend far beyond the immediate act of communicating with the dearly departed. In addition to feeling someone’s love again, people can gain guidance from guardian angels, Spirit guides, send and receive messages of love between unborn babies, or experience healing and closure after a loved one passes.
When it comes to communicating with the spirit world, intention is fundamental. It is possible to receive messages or information from angel messengers, the unborn, and loved ones. Yet, it is possible to connect with other lower vibrational spirits and entities as well. Our own ego mind can also be filled with doubt or self-deprecation and deliver negative messages, but higher vibrational beings and spirits never communicate in a negative way. To receive a clear message, it is essential to raise your vibration and ask the universe to surround you with love and light, since darkness cannot reside in the same place as light and lower entities cannot coexist in the same space as higher vibrational beings. If you find yourself thinking ‘Who am I to think that I can get messages from the spirit world?’, know that this is your ego/mind and society’s teachings undermining the all-loving universe.

After witnessing so many moments of love and healing, I feel that it is my mission to share this knowledge with all those who seek it. I will be partnering with my colleague Monica Teurlings to lead a workshop series in California this spring. In addition to guiding people through communication with their spirit guides, we will also leave them with the tools to do so independently. The workshop will enlighten participants on Intuition vs. Ego, demonstrate how to prepare and create the best circumstances for receiving messages, explore the various ways that messages can manifest, and teach methods to overcome communication blocks.
